About Us

------- A BRIEF HISTORY OF JIM'S MOTORCYCLE -------- Jim's has been an area leader in the powersports business since 1937,when the original "JIM" (James P Hayes SR)saved enough money to buy and sell his first Indian motorcycle. Mr. Hayes was born in the area of Butler Tn. and like most mountain families grew up poor. At a young age he started working by carrying large chuncks of ice for the area ice boxes of the day(these are refrigerators to us).As time went by Jim Sr meet his wife and started making a life for him and his wife through working various jobs and a growing love of motorcycles. eventually he had saved up enough monies(from working at the Bemburg plant in elizabethton) to purchase his first new machine to re-sale and from that little basement jim's motorcycle was borne. The business survived through world war II by Jim's wife Stella (affectionatlly known as Bun)while Jim was honorably serving in the Navy .After the war Jim moved the business to Johnson City . Where it is today owned by Ken Hayes. Jim had three sons and the oldest of these was James P Hayes JR who came to Kingsport Tenn. in 1957 to start up his own business. Jim Junior as he was known was a good and happy business man and with his wife Virginia and there three children (Cheryl,Bobbie, and Jay III)operated and prospered until Junior's death in 1976. Junior was an accomplished motorcycle racer and won many championships throughout the southest .Through the years Virginia operated the business till James P HayesIII (JayIII) took over the business in 1994 to which he operates to this day. The Hayes family has seen unbelievable changes to the powersports industry, but there philosiphy of treating others as you want to be treated. By offering the best products and service available at a fair and resonable price.JIM'S WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND AN INVITATION TO COME AND DO BUSINESS WITH US...
